Katrine Blinkenberg

Katrine Blinkenberg is a self-taught sculptor working primarily with plaster and clay, among other materials. She originally graduated with a master's degree in Theology from the University of Copenhagen and was ordained as a priest in the Danish National Church in 2010.

Blinkenberg served as a parish priest and army chaplain until 2022, when she decided to pursue a new path, dedicating herself to art, ceramics, and teaching.

The Surrealist approach to both literature and visual art serves as a significant source of inspiration to Blinkenberg. In her previous career, she frequently employed automatic writing, and she has endeavored to translate that method into her sculpting process, making it less deliberate and more intuitive. She refers to this approach as automatic creation. Chance, the subconscious, and the relinquishing of control are essential elements, allowing intention, ambition, and perfectionism to recede into the background.

Theology and existential questions are recurring themes throughout her artistic practice.
