“Introducing Joon”

August 21 — October 17

Joon is pleased to present its first exhibition featuring works by Agnete Bertram (b. 1983, DK), Aleksandra Kucharska (b. 1981, PL), Christina König (b. 1988, DK), Ditte Marie Frost (b. 1992, DK), Katrine Blinkenberg (1982, DK) and Lukas Lykke (b. 1997, DK).

The inaugural exhibition introduces six artists we will be working with over the coming months. Rather than presenting a traditional group exhibition organized around a shared theme, the participating artists have been invited to present existing works that offer an initial insight into their individual practices.

The selected works serve as an introduction to each artist’s unique perspectives, methods, and artistic approaches, providing a first glimpse of what is to come. This exhibition marks the beginning of a series of solo exhibitions, in which each artist will continue to develop and explore their practice through individual presentations over the following months.

The exhibition will be open from August 21 to October 17.

I made the gravestone for my husband and me. We had talked about how we did not want to lie beneath a flat granite slab. So I made a gravestone. And sculpture. And suddenly we were living with it.

It became a part of our everyday life. Our children know it. Algae has gradually begun to grow on it, forming a light green covering over the white.

In autumn, it stands among the blackberry bushes. In winter, it is covered in snow. In spring, the birds sit on it. In summer, it is surrounded by buttercups in the half-tall grass.

I remember that I will die. And that one day, I will lie beneath it.

It lives with me and reminds me of that. So that I can remember to live. To live more.

As a priest, I often conducted funerals. Hearing one life story after another, writing speech after speech, standing behind coffin after coffin did something to me. I remember: I will die. So I must live. Live more.

My husband said to me, “Do you realize that you have cried every day for four years?”

I resigned from my position. Because I remember: I will die. I want to be happy.

I want to live.
